Why doesn’t my suction shower caddy work on my tiled wall?

Why doesn’t my suction shower caddy work on my tiled wall?

Why doesn’t my suction shower caddy work or stay on the wall? This is perhaps the most common question I get, and the answer is not what you would think.

So you have a tiled shower recess and your suction shower caddy keeps falling down, the product must be faulty right? In nearly every case there is nothing wrong with the product it is actually the tiles, they are porous. “But they are in a shower so they must be glazed right?”, again no, they are polished tiles which means they don’t have a layer of glass on the surface which is required for suction products to work. Here is a quick diagram showing how this process works.

So what do you do if this happens to you? Well lucky for you Fusion-Loc manufactures a small disc that you stick on to your tile which gives you a non-porous section for you to use your suction shower caddy, I have included a link at the end of this blog for your reference.

So the Fusion-Loc adhesive disc now gives you the ability to use suction products on a porous surface like polished tiles so you still don’t need to drill into your tiles, which lets face it no-one really wants to do because you risk cracking your tiles.

The discs come in both square and round to match your suction cup
